How Stellara Works

Stellara combines precise astronomical chart calculation with AI-generated interpretations and an editorial library of reference content. This page explains how each component works and how we approach accuracy and transparency.

Chart calculation

Stellara calculates natal charts using the Swiss Ephemeris, the same astronomical data source used by professional astrology software worldwide. The Swiss Ephemeris provides planetary positions accurate to within one arc-second for dates between 2400 BCE and 3300 CE.

When you enter your birth date, time, and location, Stellara uses these coordinates to compute the exact position of each planet at the moment of your birth. House cusps are calculated using the Placidus house system, the most widely used system in Western astrology.

AI-powered interpretations

Once your chart is calculated, Stellara uses Azure OpenAI (GPT-4 class models) to generate personalized interpretations based on your specific placement combinations. Each reading is written from scratch for your unique chart, not drawn from a generic horoscope database.

The AI is prompted with your full chart data and trained to produce interpretations grounded in traditional astrological principles. Readings are generated in real time and never stored on Stellara's servers. Your birth data is used only for the duration of the request and then discarded.

Editorial content on this site

The zodiac sign profiles, compatibility guides, planetary placement pages, Chinese zodiac animal profiles, and numerology pages on this site are written by the Stellara editorial team. All content is based on established astrological tradition and reviewed for accuracy against standard reference sources before publication.

We cover all 12 Western zodiac signs, all 66 sign pairings, 11 planetary placements across all 12 signs, all 12 Chinese zodiac animals, and life path numbers 1 through 9. Pages are reviewed and updated when interpretive conventions evolve.

Accuracy and limitations

Planetary position calculations are astronomically accurate. Astrological interpretation, however, is a tradition with a long history of debate about which techniques produce the most insightful readings. Stellara follows mainstream Western astrological tradition and makes no claims about predictive accuracy or scientific validity.

For the most accurate natal chart reading, your exact birth time is required. Without it, your Rising sign and house placements cannot be determined. If your birth time is unknown, Stellara will note this in your reading and calculate placements for the planets that can be determined from date and location alone.
